Faces of Good 2
Posted December 1, 2011
THERE IS GOOD ALL AROUND US. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS SEE IT. Thanks to our readers, we continue to hear lots of stories about the kind acts and inspiring work taking place throughout our communities. Perhaps it is a young boy who provides a meal to a hungry man. Or a team of associates who go the extra mile to make a customer feel safe. Or even a group of men who shaved their heads to help raise awareness for childhood cancer. We are thrilled to feature more “Faces of Good” with you by showcasing people who believe in doing good for others. Just click on their photos below to read all about them.
If you think you or someone you know has a story worth sharing in “Faces of Good,” please send an email with the subject line “Faces of Good” to editor@seethegood.com.

Charles Daniel of Birmingham, Ala. has a sister named Jennifer who suffers from muscular dystrophy. Motivated to find a way to help her and others with MD, Charles and his wife started Jennifer's Ride, an event to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and in particular, summer camps the MDA hosts for kids with this disorder. With this same giving spirit, Charles has always taken extra time building relationships with customers at his local branch. Because of that, many of them have responded in kind by supporting Jennifer's Ride with donations. Charles' ability to see the good in others and take an interest in their lives has enabled him to spread hope to others in need. For more information on the event you may contact Charles via email at Charles.Daniel@Regions.com.

Seeing a child show compassion toward another person brings a parent unparalleled pride. For Regions associate Christy Foreman from Knoxville, Tenn., that's what happened one evening when she took her son Kaleb out to dinner, and he noticed that a man outside the restaurant appeared to be lost. When Kaleb offered help, the man replied that he was hungry, had no money, and was hoping someone might offer their leftovers. After watching others seem to ignore him as they passed, Kaleb told his mother he wanted to help, so they walked to a nearby Taco Bell where Kaleb chose a Big Box meal - "because it comes with a lot," he explained. After they presented him with the meal they noticed the man using napkins to wipe tears from his eyes. Christy will never forget what Kaleb said as they walked away: "Mom, I think he's going to like that."

For Regions associates Trevor Sheldon, Christian Davis, and Anthony Autera of Marco Island, Fla., it was an easy decision to shave their heads to benefit The St. Baldrick's Foundation, a group that raises money to fund childhood-cancer research. St. Baldrick's hosts events around the country where volunteers like them face the clippers as a bold show of solidarity with kids fighting cancer. Along the way they ask friends, family, and the community to support them with donations to St. Baldrick's. Trevor, Christian, and Anthony are proof that bald is beautiful when it fuels awareness and action for a life-changing cause.

For the Regions Eastover Team it's our Branch Manager, Susie Bryant of Charlotte, N.C. that makes the world a better place. Susie has made a huge impact on her peers in just one short year. "Susie is that spectacular, extraordinary person that is always giving of herself every day and never wants or takes any rewards in return," as her team explains. She goes out of her way by simply giving her time, providing encouragement, lending a hand, and even giving small thoughtful gifts. This is true of her relationships with customers, associates, friends, and family. A mother and grandmother herself, she has even been named "honorary grandmother" to two team members' children. "Her team thinks the world of her". She shows that sometimes "it's the little things you do that can change a person's day."

Teresa Morgan of Huntsville, Ala. learned that one of her elderly clients was badly shaken after being robbed just outside of her home as she was trying to get into her car. In the aftermath, she became afraid of going out to run basic errands - including taking care of her banking needs. Teresa and the team at the client's local Regions branch wanted to find a way to put her mind at ease, so they volunteered to escort her to and from her car whenever she needs to come into the bank so she will feel safe and secure. They have even offered to help with other errands, as well. It's just a way for Teresa and her colleagues to reach out in a personal way to help a customer and see the good.

Thank you for telling my son's story so well! It makes me realize how kind hearted he is and how much he is always willing to help others in need!
christy foremanChristy - Your son's story was SO touching. You are doing an amazing job as a parent if your son is that aware and has that level of compassion on mankind. We need more children (and adults) like Kaleb!
Pam HattReading the story about Kaleb brought tears to my eyes. It goes to show that children see the world so different from adults. They slow down and take the time to realize whats around them. They are never afraid to say whats on their mind or offer compassion to a stranger. We think they look up to us but truly we look up to them. Thank you for sharing your story.
Cathy BrunerWhat inspiring stories!! I really enjoyed reading each one! I really love see the good and the folks behind it. In a world that can at times seem so cold and un-giving, we get a glimpse of something great happening! Keep up the great work!!

LoriWow! What a heart-warming story! It brought tears to my eyes and made me think about what a joy it is to be a mother and be able to witness these moments when you realize you have succeeded in teaching your children to empathize with those less fortunate. Great work Mom!
Kelly ChiusaThe story of the little boy touched my heart, because I have a child and I hope to raise her to have the same giving heart. That was so sweet
